Image Compression Without Visible Quality Loss

JPEG quality 75-85 is the sweet spot. Lossless PNG optimization can shrink files 20-50% with zero quality change.

JPEG quality is a 0-100 scale where 100 is "no quality loss" (massive files) and 1 is "barely a thumbnail" (tiny files). The sweet spot for web is 75-85: typically 60-80% smaller than 100, with quality differences invisible to most viewers. PNG compression is lossless but inefficient by default — tools like our Image Compressor strip unnecessary metadata, optimize the Huffman tables, and re-encode the alpha channel for 20-50% size reduction with zero visible change. For hero images and photography on web pages, target under 200 KB; for thumbnails, under 30 KB. Use our Image Compressor for in-browser optimization.
